2024 AGM & Presentation Information

As per communication from Graham the date for the AGM and Presentation night has been confirmed as Thursday 25th July 2024. The AGM will take place first followed by the presentation straight after for the 2023/24 season.

Please note that all teams who are looking to enter a team into the 2024/25 season must attend the AGM. This includes all existing teams as well as any new teams that are looking to join the league.

Please see above the team registration form for the 2024/25 season. I will also send a copy of in both excel and PDF format to every captain and will bring hard copies to the AGM with me should you require one.

Please note the preference is for this to be sent back in excel format as it is easier to load the data onto the website.

You will notice one change on the form as per the AGM agenda where we have asked teams to notify us which of the following they would like to enter this season and more information and reasoning for this will be provided at the AGM.

Dave has asked if any players within the league are attending, could they please take their cue as they are looking to give him a cue salute. Please could you confirm to Dave if this is the case so he can gauge numbers and confirm more details

AGM & Presentation

Firstly, please accept my apologies that we haven't published a date for the AGM and presentation night as of yet. This usually takes place in June however the last few months have been very full on with the arrival of my daughter and I wanted to take a break from league duties to enjoy the first few months of her life after the season finished as its something I wouldn't get back.

I am going to be speaking with Graham & Danny this week to confirm a date which will be in July. This will be published ASAP and will take place in July.

As always, each team looking to participate in the 2024/25 season will need at least one member to attend and all teams and individuals who were successful in the 2023/24 season will need to attend to collect trophies and winnings.

At present, we have only received one proposal for a rule change that has been sent to us in writing. If you would like to submit a proposal, then this needs to be sent by email to either Pat, Danny or Graham before the end of June.

There are a few operational changes, costs and potential competiton format changes that will be discussed at the AGM so it is important that a representative for each team attends.

The agenda will be sent out to all captains prior to the AGM so they can review with their team and discuss.

League Sponsorship

From next season we are looking for the league to have some sponsorship so we can generate more funds which will provide us opportunities to increase prize money for each competition and potentially provide teams and clubs with equipment they require.

Every other amateur league I can think of has sponsorship and I feel that as a league this is something we are lacking on which will help us going forward

Gary Tatlock

The league saddened to hear the news that Gary Tatlock has sadly passed away earlier today.

Gary had played in the league for over 40 years mainly representing Grappenhall & Thelwall Britsh Legion as well as Grappenhall Ex-servicemens in recent years.

On a personal level, I played with Gary for GESM A from 2015-2023 before he moved back to GTBL at the start of last season. As many of you know, Gary was a top player but more importantly he was a superb person and company to have on a Thursday evening. It was a pleasure to have him as a team-mate over the years.

His dry sense of humour and personality will be greatly missed by current and ex-team mates as well as friends within the league.

His fellow team mate and close friend Dave Newton will provide me with the funeral arrangements in due course once they have been confirmed.

Our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this time.

Division Two Player of the Year Play off

The play off to decide the player of the year in Division Two for the 2023/24 season will take place at GESM next Thursday 9th May starting at 19:30 prompt.

The matches will be as follows;

Should all players win one match then it will go down to points difference so frames must be played out in full.

English League Championship - Qualifiers 04 & 05 May - Landywood Snooker Club

The Warrington Snooker League has entered a team into the English League Championship and they will take part in the qualifying stage this coming weekend at Landywood Snooker Club.

The team will be drawn into a group with 6 other teams and will play each team twice meaning 10 matches over the weekend with 5 players participating in each match.

EPSB Registration & English League Championship

The league has today sent a registration to join the EPSB which will cost £30 for two years from today’s date..

This will allow us to be a recognised league within the EPSB and will also allow us to enter a team into the English League Championship which will be held at Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall. Should anyone be interested in representing the Warrington league then please see the link below as the closing date to enter a team is Friday 22nd March 2023.

Please note you will need to be available on the dates noted in the link below. The league will pay the £100 entry fee for a team participate.

Scott Livingstone of GTBL B has asked the league to share and raise awareness on the following subject. Scott's son Danial was sadly hit by a car and carried 450m down the road on the roof. He is currently in a coma fighting for his life.

New Player Handicap Adjustments

The following new players have been re-handicapped as they have all played at least two frames and this is the scheduled date of the end of the month meeting.

Well its fair to say that conditions weren't quite what you would expect from a winter snooker league last week. I don't think I've ever known it to be so warm for a snooker evening as it was last Wednesday and Thursday in most clubs.
