Vic Harris Main Image

The Vic Harris Snooker League was originally founded in 1981. It was set up to encourage players in and around South East Essex to compete with & against each other on a regular weekly basis.

Originally called "The Essex Snooker League", it attracted many good club & professional players, a key figure was Vic Harris, who at the time was "English Amateur Champion". Unfortunately Vic became seriously ill in 1988, & it is with great sadness that we finally lost the great man as Vic passed away on March 10th 2015, finally succumbing to pneumonia.

Founder League member Joe Lazarus decided that because of what Vic had achieved in the game, the League should be re-named The Vic Harris Snooker League.
Former Main Tour Pro Brian Salmon & Several former Challenge/PIOS Tour players also 'ply their trade' on a Monday night, with Romford's Mark King making a league debut in 2002-03.

Without doubt however, the most successful former VHSL player is local Pro, 2011 Australian Goldfields Open Champion, 2013 Party Poker Premier League Champion & 2015 World  Champion Stuart Bingham. The current world No.17 player made his League debut as a youngster, & continued playing & supporting the League right up until the mid 2000's. In return, we follow his main tour form keenly on this web site. Other former & current pro's to compete include: Brian Morgan, Stuart Mann & Matthew Selt.
Vic himself had been a great influence on the up & coming players in the League & was without doubt an asset to any organisation, especially The VIC HARRIS SNOOKER LEAGUE. An evening with Vic, listening to his stories & jokes, was always highly recommended!! The Legend, will be sadly missed...
